July Newsletter
Are you refreshed and revived after your staycation, or vacation? We are on the downhill side of summer, now that we’re past the 4th and days are getting shorter. If you haven’t been able to treat yourself, there’s still time. If you’re looking for some things to keep you busy around the house, here are some suggestions.
Clean your porch lights, get your entry cleaned up and shiny
Check safety devices, locks and deadbolts. Replace batteries in fire/smoke detectors, tighten or replace loose locks.
Clean windows inside and out. It’s amazing the difference if you haven’t done this for a while. If you don’t feel safe doing the exteriors yourself, hire it done.
While you’re cleaning windows, check screens for holes that aren’t supposed to be there. Use a screen patching kit or have them replaced to keep little buggers out.
Remove dead weeds and leaves around your property that could possibly start a fire during dry spells.
If you’re having guests visit, spruce up the guest room with fresh linens, a stack of fresh towels, and remove your own personal items. You could go the extra mile by adding a basket of travel-size toiletries, bottled water, and a card with the Wi-Fi password.
If you’re going to be away for a while, let your neighbors know and ask a friend to check on your house periodically. Consider adding motion-sensing lighting to deter possible break-ins.
Last month Jason and Rick participated in the Eldon Dietrich Golf Classic to benefit the Juvenile Justice Ministry. This helps youth navigate through difficult situations and make their way to a better future.
We celebrated another anniversary at the end of June. Jarrod has been with Willet 11 years! Like a lot of carpenters on the Willet team, Jarrod started out as an apprentice. He worked his way up to Project Manager, then took a step back when his twins came along. He is currently a Master Carpenter and is such an asset to the team. His work is carefully thought out and implemented. Our homeowners love to have him around, which is a common thread for our team. Who wouldn’t love someone who treats their home with care and respect in the process of making it function and look so much better?

Design Corner
One of the basics of interior design is line. Lines can guide the eye through a room and establish structure. Horizontal lines add stability and make a room feel wider, just like in clothing. Vertical lines draw the eye upward and can make a ceiling feel taller. Curved lines soften the look of a room and often bring a more feminine feel to a room. Diagonal or angular lines bring playful energy. In this small powder bath, the horizontal lines of the moulding help make the room feel wider.
Fun Fact
Have you heard about one of the most famous coincidences in American History? Both John Adams and Thomas Jefferson died on July 4th, 1826, exactly 50 years after the adoption of the Declaration of Independence. Jefferson was 83 when he passed away in Virginia, and Adams died hours later at the age of 90.
