July 2023: In the Midst of Summer

Sky with yellow and blue hues and scattered clouds

We’re in the middle of summer, which brings picnics, cookouts, camping, and cooling off in the water. Do you have your outdoor space spiffed up? To add sparkle and shine, clean your windows, inside and out. Don’t forget the basement windows, and clear out those window wells.

While you’re out there, take the time to see if valuables are easy to see from the street, like a large television. It might be time to rearrange the furniture to prevent would-be thieves from taking notice.

For water wellness in your home, make sure you’re running water through unused spaces regularly. This will prevent pipes from drying out and sewer gases from entering your home, and keep your plumbing functioning well. It will also give you the opportunity to check around sinks and toilets for leaks. Don’t be alarmed if you see condensation, but puddling or dripping is a sign of trouble.

As the weather warms, the use of fans will increase. Make sure ceiling fans are dusted so you’re not circulating dust and spiderwebs.

July is National Grilling Month, so make sure yours is clean and safe to use.

Willet-Sponsored Softball Team

Last month, the Willet-sponsored softball team won the Father’s Day Tournament in Johnson, NE. It was a tumultuous day for the guys, but they thought the win was well worth the struggles. Congrats!

Featured Project: Taylor Meadows Siding

The Taylor Meadows homeowners wanted to bring life and add character to the exterior of their home. To achieve this, we used a combination of Iron Gray and board and batten siding complemented with Arctic White trim. To view additional projects, check out our portfolio.

Design Corner

Mickey Mouse star on the Hollywood walk of fame. What do our design center and the Hollywood Walk of Fame have in common? Terrazzo tile, of course! Terrazzo tile traces back to the mosaics of ancient Egypt. In the 18th century in Italy, it developed into a mortar base with marble fragments thrown in.

It became a favorite for art deco and modern design in the 1920s and 1940s. One of the best-known examples of terrazzo is the Hollywood Walk of Fame, created in 1958, where terrazzo tiles honor celebrities in stars that display their names.

While we don’t have stars in the design center, we do have a lot of tile to choose from, and we think our designers are pretty amazing.

Fun Fact

The human hand has over 25% of the bones in the entire body. There are 27 bones in the hand and wrist, with a total of 54 bones combined. The foot and ankle have 26 bones, so 52 in both.

The adult human skeleton is made up of 206 bones, and over half of them are in your hands and feet!
