Covid-19 Update

With the impact of the Coronavirus spreading, we want to let everyone know that we are taking every care and precaution we can at this time. Being a service that heavily revolves around meeting with clients and being in and around your homes, looking out for you is our top priority.

We are implementing safe practices for our staff and clients to keep personal interactions to a minimum while adhering to construction schedules. Along with that, the WCI Kitchen & Bath Design Center will be open by appointment only. While some may be hesitant to pursue a remodeling project during these uncertain times, your home is the most solid investment you hold. Investing in improvements not only adds to your asset, it provides a welcome diversion to the events of the outside world. And given the newly lowered interest rates, you might even save money!

There are plenty of valid sources for information out there. Please educate yourself on protective hygiene and social distancing and follow these practices until we get through this. Wash your hands and do what you can to protect yourself and those around you.

March didn’t quite come in like a lion. We’ll see what the end of March brings. In the meantime, here are some things to do around the house to keep things in good working order. If it’s not too windy, now is an excellent time to clean out those gutters. When the spring rains hit, you want to make sure the water has an efficient way to get away from your home and foundation. While you’re out there, inspect the concrete around your house. Fill any cracks that might be an access for water into your basement or garage. Also, check your outside faucets.

If you can stop the water flow by putting your fingers over the opening, you might have a cracked pipe. Also, inspect that deck. Check for discoloration and warping, loose or rusty nails, and make sure the railings and stairs are safely secured. Taking care of these things now will help you enjoy your home as the weather gets warmer.

The homeowners for this project had lived in their house for 25 years and were ready for some changes. They knew what they didn’t like, and what wasn’t working for them and called us for help. First, they wanted to add an island with seating, replace their desk area, add pantry storage, accommodate a new microwave/oven combo and trade in their sink.

To make way for the island, we moved the door to their laundry room to allow for walking room. The island is an ‘L’ to integrate seating. The desk was replaced with two pantry cabinets and a coffee bar. The fridge was moved to make room for the ovens near the cooktop, and a hood vent was added. The corner sink was replaced with a double bowl under-mount sink and the two outer walls received new tile. New flooring and paint were applied throughout the main floor, and lighting updated. Quartz countertops were installed, with a little glitzier one applied to the island. The cabinets were done in two shades and heights for added interest, with crown molding applied to all the uppers. Now the homeowners can enjoy their kitchen another 25 years.

We’ll Miss You Harvey

The Willet staff got together to wish a fond farewell to Harvey Quick. We had asked for notes from you, our friends and clients, which were presented to him in a notebook. Harvey was joined by his wife Cindy for the festivities. Since retirement Harvey has been working on some ‘Honey-Do” projects in between traveling with Cindy.
