Early Sunday morning, you may have been awakened by the hail storm that rolled through the area. If you are one of those who have damage and aren’t sure what your options are, here is some information that might be helpful.

When processing a claim through your insurance company, after you call your agent, an adjuster will be dispatched to assess the damage to your home. They may or may not require you to get estimates of what the repair will cost. The insurance company will then assign a dollar amount they will cover, and will likely give you a few names of people you can call to do the repairs.

You always have the option to hire whomever you want to complete repairs to your home. You want to make sure you are hiring a reputable contractor. Often, after a storm, a barrage of contractors will swoop in to take advantage of those who have been hit, and sometimes they do not have your best interests in mind, or you simply don’t know if they will stand by their work and if it will meet insurance requirements.
