We are coasting through 2026 and are almost halfway through already! School is out, summer is starting (as if we haven’t seen summer temps yet), and the pools are open. Maybe you’ve decided on a stay-cay this year instead of traveling too far from home.
Here are a few tips to make your home feel like a relaxing destination:
- Deep Clean and Declutter – a tidy space will help separate everyday life from vacation time
- Set up the Buffet – whether you’re hosting or not, set up a buffet or bar to let guests help themselves so you don’t have to be serving. If you’re saving money on hotels and airfare splurge on a caterer or help with clean-up
- Upgrade Linens – Invest in high-quality sheets and plush towels to make your stay feel more luxurious
- Add Greenery – Bring the outdoors in with fresh flowers and greenery for a soothing, natural environment
- Designate certain rooms as your vacation getaway zones. Create a tech-free zone with comfortable seating near a window for a reading and relaxing nook
- Backyard Getaway – Add an outdoor rug, string lights, comfortable seating or a hammock to make your yard an oasis
- Create an Itinerary – schedule visits to places you don’t usually get to see – the museum, local parks, or restaurants you’ve never tried, schedule yoga sessions, afternoon naps or spa treatments
- Most importantly, relax.
Last month Jeremy’s Remodelers Advantage Production Manager group held their spring Roundtable here in Lincoln. They met with several people on the team to assess what is working and what could be improved. It was great to have them here and to show off our business and new building, as well as our fair city.
May was the work anniversary of Jenny Samek. Jenny has been designing with us for 8 years now. She has updated areas as simple as a fireplace to a primary suite addition, as well as whole home remodels. She is the designer behind this month’s Featured Project. If you can dream it, she can design it.

Colors can be linked to certain emotions. So, if you’re choosing a spot in your home for your staycation, keep in mind that cool colors like blue and green suggest calmness. Warm colors like red and yellow can evoke energy.
Fun Fact
This year marks the 100th anniversary of Route 66, otherwise known as “The Mother Road” or “Main Street of America”. The highway is roughly 2,400 miles long stretching from Santa Monica, CA to Chicago, IL. How much time it would take to drive from one end to the other would depend on how many sites you stop to see along the way. It is the first fully paved federal highway.
