April 2025 Newsletter

It seems as if winter doesn’t want to let go. Hopefully, spring will keep springing, and the weather will keep getting nicer. While April showers bring May flowers, they can also allow the opportunity to start looking for mosquito nesting grounds. Follow these tips:

  • After a rain shower, inspect your yard for any areas of puddling. Fill in the areas with good dirt. Don’t worry — grass will find its way through a couple of inches of soil cover.
  • While you’re hauling dirt, build up any low areas around the perimeter of your home so that it slopes away from the house.
  • If you haven’t had a chance yet, clean your planting beds.
  • Check your sprinkler system to make sure each zone is working correctly so any repairs can be done before hot weather arrives.
  • Take garbage and recycling bins outside and spray them out, first with a hose and then with cleaning spray if needed. Then, leave them upside down to dry.
  • Spruce up the front porch by cleaning the floor, windowsills, and door. Put down a new doormat and add a pot of fresh flowers. If you have any porch furniture, give it a good washing.
  • See the Design Corner below for this month’s clutter ideas.

Everyone can benefit from getting organized. It seems we never have enough room for all our stuff. To start getting organized, begin where you’re most frustrated. If you’re tired of digging for your cookie sheets or muffin pans, rethink your cabinet organization by adding vertical dividers.

Fun Fact

Lots of golf balls

The average golf ball has 336 dimples.
