There are times when a home improvement needs to beautiful AND functional. The needs of this homeowner included a wheelchair ramp, and a more accessible bathroom.
We opened one end of the porch to add the wheelchair ramp. The inside corner of the turn was set at a diagonal, rather than square corner, to make maneuvering easier.

For the bathroom, the door received offset hinges, so it would open behind the jamb. The tub was removed, and an accessible Onyx shower installed, complete with grab bars and new shower faucets and sprayers. A matching Onyx countertop and sink and faucet were installed in the existing cabinet. The toilet was raised for improved accessibility as well.
