While the basement was a fun and colorful play space, there was an awful lot of space that was only utilized by the youngest members of the family. The homeowners wanted to convert the large basement to one the whole family can enjoy, serve multiple purposes, and one that will continue to function and serve the family as the children grow up.
The owners asked for a kitchenette, and an area where teens could hang out and still be visible to the adults. Glass pocket doors separate the space when a sound barrier is needed. The kitchenette was outfitted with new Showplace cabinets, tile backsplash, under-cabinet lighting, and Cambria countertop.
To add interest to the walls, a custom wainscot was designed and installed. Storage was added with new cabinetry. A new bathroom and workout room were also created.
The stairway received a new railing and post. Lighting was added above the soffit in the living area, along with new ceiling fixtures.
Now the family can enjoy their basement in comfort and style, for many years to come.
