Back to all projects
After living in this home for 20 years, the owners were ready to ditch the oak and tan pallet and update the entire main floor of their home.
The 3-season porch off the kitchen was converted to year-round living space. We updated all the windows, removed the sliding door from the kitchen, and added insulation under the room. We also added HVAC supply to the room, new carpet, and new lighting..
In the kitchen, the cabinets and flooring were removed, updated electrical supply roughed-in, and new subfloor installed to prepare for new flooring. New cabinets wrap the room and go all the way to the ceiling, significantly increasing storage. While the perimeter cabinets are all white, the island is now a painted maple with a herringbone tile pattern on the seating side. And rather than two levels, the island is all one surface for increased work surface..
Instead of the 4” backsplash previously in the room, tile covers the entire wall between the countertop and upper cabinets.
Similar updates were made in the laundry room with old oak cabinets going away and new white cabinets lining the wall.
Where there used to be just one upper cabinet, new uppers span the length of the room. The countertop was also expanded for better function of the space.
Updated lighting and flooring were also brought in.
In the master bedroom and bath, we did some reframing of doorways to add arches to the space. We also rearranged the bathroom to eliminate the large tub and expand the shower. Now instead of seeing the shower as you enter the room, there is a wall that encloses part of the new shower for increased privacy. The end shower wall increases privacy for the toilet area.
In the vanity area a fun backsplash applied. This same tile was used in the shower niche.
In the living room the fireplace was updated, and a built-in cabinet installed for increased form and function.
The guest bath also received an update with a fun tile in the tub/shower area, new vanity, and flooring. New paint and lighting complete the transformation.
The rest of the main floor also received new paint, trim, flooring, and lighting. You wouldn’t know you were in the same house, and now the homeowners are enjoying their new home without having the stress of buying and moving. Plus, they have fun new features to enjoy for years to come.
