After having used us for several other projects, these homeowners contacted us when it was time to update the siding and windows on their house. They wanted to eliminate arched windows and doors and update to a more modern look with black windows and doors. Exterior trim and porch posts were wrapped in black. The siding was replaced with James Hardie board & batten and shingle siding on the front with lap siding on the remaining exterior.
The white double hung windows were replaced with ebony black casements and the arched window in the master bedroom was removed. We installed a standing seam metal shed roof where the arched window was removed. A large window in one of the bathrooms was replaced with a linear unit offering more privacy. South and west windows (on the street sides) received grills between the glass.
The front door was upgraded to a Therma-Tru Fiberglass in Onyx black with Chinchilla privacy glass on door and sidelites.
During the process some rot was found around some of the windows. But for a 25-year-old house, the damage wasn’t bad, and probably the result of poor installation practices of the time. Now the home has Marvin Ultimate windows and James Hardie siding, so it will be well protected for many years to come.
