June 2024 Newsletter
We’re almost halfway through 2024. School is out, and summer begins. Have you made your summer vacation plans yet? Whether you travel for some beach time or just enjoy a quiet spell in the backyard, take a break and chill out. Everyone needs to relax and recharge.
One way to make things easier this summer is to have a spot designated for towels and swim shoes. Rather than having to track a mess through the house, create a drop zone where everyone can deposit their things, perhaps with a basket that will go directly to the laundry.
You can also keep outdoor necessities like sunscreen and bug spray in the same location for an easy grab on the way out the door. A first-aid kit is another thing to keep handy. Check to ensure it’s well-stocked and the items haven’t expired.
Speaking of fresh meds, spend some time cleaning out your medicine cabinet. While you’re spending some quality time in your bathroom, take a look around and see if it could use some sprucing up.
Whether yours just needs a fresh shower curtain or a whole makeover, see our project of the month for some ideas. You can also check out our website for other projects we’ve done for more ideas. Let us know if we can help.
Now is a good time to change your fridge’s filters and clean the ice maker to keep things running smoothly. Cleaning the ceiling fan blades will help keep dust and allergens from floating around the house. While you’re at it, replace any light bulbs.
Rock Run Cabinetry is coming to a design center near you soon! These finely crafted, powder-coated cabinets can be used anywhere you need sturdy, easy-to-clean cabinets, including your outdoor kitchen.
They come in various models and sizes. Like the custom cabinets we use for kitchens and baths, these cabinets have soft-close doors and drawers. They also have adjustable leveling feet for areas that aren’t level and flat. If you don’t like their stock colors, custom colors can be accommodated. Find out more here.
We have a new man on board. To better serve our customers, we’ve added a new position at Willet Construction, Project Coordinator, and have filled it with Dan Mulder. Dan comes to us with 30+ years of construction experience. He’s built houses from the ground up and is skilled with many tools we use for communication and estimating.
His primary focus will be estimating exterior remodeling projects, but he’ll be integrated into all that Willet Construction does, working alongside Jonathan. Dan is married and has two daughters. The oldest just graduated from UN-L in May, and the other is a freshman there.
June Featured Project: High Marks
Design Corner
This month’s design focus is on the Modern Farmhouse. It’s very popular and uses lots of found and salvaged objects pulled together in a refined way. Modern Farmhouse is inspired by the farmhouse look without being too rustic. It uses plaids, blues, greens, and lots of white and black to create an inviting and comfortable space with a tinge of traditional style without being too formal.
Fun Fact
The lyrebird can mimic almost any sound it hears, including chainsaws. Researchers have recorded the Australian bird copying other birds, koalas, car alarms, and camera shutters.
