May 2023: April Showers Bring May Flowers

Cemetery with headstones, each with an American Flag

May flowers are blooming and loving this spring weather. The freezing temperatures should be over by now, but you never can tell. Keep an eye on the yard and plants. Trim trees and bushes that look a little unruly and keep the grass tended and watered. While you’re outside, inspect and clean your outdoor lighting.

If you have solar lights, make sure the batteries are in good working order. If the receptor on your solar lights starts to turn white, go over it with clear nail polish. Look around the house to make sure exhaust vents aren’t blocked. Washing your deck and cleaning exterior doors will make your home look fresh.

Having your HVAC system checked might be a good idea before it really gets hot. Another thing you might not do regularly is clean your garbage disposal. While you’re there, take a peek under the sink for signs of leakage. Slow water leaks can wreak havoc on your home.

May is National Electrical Safety Month. Take time to check electrical cords for damage and make sure power strips aren’t overloaded. Covering unused wall outlets while protecting children and pets also keeps debris and dust from getting inside.

Did you get to see the homes on the Remodeler’s Tour? Ours was a showstopper. If you didn’t get out, ours is our featured project this month – a sweet primary suite.

Featured Project: Bishop Heights Addition

Large remodeled primary bathroom with waterfall stone countertops, black cabinets, walk-in glass-enclosed shower, and light wood floors.

The Bishop Heights Addition was created for a modern design and luxury escape. To view additional projects, check out our portfolio.

Last month, Jeremy attended a Remodeler’s Advantage Production Managers site visit in Pittsburgh. Rick and Jason also attended their quarterly Roundtable meeting in North Carolina.

This peer advisory program brings together owners of remodeling companies from across the country to learn from each other to improve for customers and employees. It’s also where goals are set, and accountability standards are established.

Not only has Remodelers Advantage helped Rick and Jason, but it’s also now extending to Jeremy as production manager.

A Well-Deserved Congratulations

A professional portrait of Tate Samek

We want to congratulate Tate Samek, son of designer Jenny Samek and her husband Mike, for being awarded a President’s Scholarship by the Home Builders Association of Lincoln. Tate is planning on attending Southeast Community College, majoring in electrical technology.

The Home Builders Association of Lincoln also hosted Construction Career Day on April 20. Rick and Jason participated in the event, giving hands-on training to area high school students in various construction trades.

Design Corner

We often see old design styles come back for new generations. That goes for home decorating as well as clothing styles. If you’ve seen bathrooms with colored fixtures, you won’t be surprised to see this trend come around again.

Instead of baby blue and minty green, some colors we’ll have to choose from are yellow, lavender, and peach.

May’s Fun Fact

Did you know the population of Los Angeles County (shown in red on the map) is larger than 40 U.S. states? There are roughly 10 million people there.

The states in gray are the 10 with more people than L.A. County. Nebraska’s population is about 2 million, and Lancaster County has around 300,000.
