Do You Have Hail Damage?
Early Sunday morning, you may have been awakened by the hail storm that rolled through the area. If you are one of those who have damage and aren’t sure what your options are, here is some information that might be helpful.
When processing a claim through your insurance company, after you call your agent, an adjuster will be dispatched to assess the damage to your home. They may or may not require you to get estimates of what the repair will cost. The insurance company will then assign a dollar amount they will cover, and will likely give you a few names of people you can call to do the repairs.
You always have the option to hire whomever you want to complete repairs to your home. You want to make sure you are hiring a reputable contractor. Often, after a storm, a barrage of contractors will swoop in to take advantage of those who have been hit, and sometimes they do not have your best interests in mind, or you simply don’t know if they will stand by their work and if it will meet insurance requirements.
we are here to help
Willet Construction is here for you. If you are receiving this message, you probably already know our reputation for service and know our work is top-notch. Part of our service to you is working with your insurance company to make sure our scope matches what is covered and to ensure your home receives the best care possible. We have handled many types of insurance repairs, from explosions to water damage, and know-how to ‘speak their language’. Keep in mind that you can do upgrades to your house at your discretion during hail damage repairs. We will bid the project for insurance as replacing the same product as listed in the claim, while also bidding the project with your upgrades. You would need to pay the difference of the two out of your own pocket. We highly recommend upgrading your siding to James Hardie fiber cement siding which is very resistant to hail. Willet Construction is Lincoln’s only James Hardie “Preferred Remodeler” and we've been using James Hardie products for 23 years. If you have any questions about the work you need to be done to your home, we will be happy to answer them. We can also come to your home and give you a ballpark amount of what it will cost to make repairs or even talk to your insurance representatives directly. We want to make sure you have peace of mind in knowing your claim will be handled correctly and completely.
